Elmore County – Ingram Road Bridge Culvert Replacement

Two 50+ year-old bridges  were replaced in a 3-month time frame using a unique wing wall design. This project used gabion baskets as wing walls that extended well beyond the culverts tying into natural ground. The gabion baskets provide a space for utilities outside of the construction area and eliminated the necessity to acquire additional right-of-way. The project was scheduled to have a minimal impact on school-related travel.  The project began May 1, 2017 and the culverts were opened to traffic on August  1, 2017, one day prior to the opening of the new school year.
